Scott Archer, PE

Principal Mechanical Engineer

Mr. Archer received his Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arkansas and has over 20 years of experience in HVAC, HVAC controls contracting, mechanical and plumbing design.

 

His experience includes designing mechanical systems for the remodeling of existing structures and the design of new buildings. This has given him an excellent knowledge of the industry and allowed him to provide complete project management assistance for all clients.

 

Mr. Archer is a principal engineer with the responsibility of client and owner contacts, as well as, quality control oversight of mechanical and plumbing design. He is currently a registered professional engineer in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma, and is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). His project experience covers a wide spectrum including: schools, churches, and athletic facilities, commercial and financial buildings.


Mr. Archer is also a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED AP BD+C) accredited professional and has substantial amount of knowledge in designing sustainable, efficient HVAC and plumbing systems.

 

Additionally, Mr. Archer has experience with LEED commissioning and has worked with energy managers to provide the most efficient systems for our clients. He has completed several projects that have a LEED certified rating and is proficient in using computer modeling and simulation to evaluate energy consumption. He has a wealth of knowledge in facility energy modeling and applying ASHRAE standards as appropriate within the LEED guidelines.

 

He diligently works with each client to provide them with the best solutions for their needs. His background includes being Vice President of Operations for Northwest Controls Systems, Inc and as a Project Engineer for Whirlpool Corporation. He is the Chairman of the Fort Smith Airport Commission and a member of the Dean's Advisory Council - College of STEM at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. He enjoys coaching baseball and is an active participant in his children’s sporting and artistic endeavors.


Rob May, PE

Principal Mechanical Engineer

Mr. May received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arkansas. His 17 years of experience in HVAC, mechanical, and HVAC controls contracting has provided him an extensive knowledge of construction techniques necessary for assisting coordination of the design teams’ projects.

 

He is currently a registered professional engineer in 6 states including Arkansas, Missouri and Texas. Mr. May is the principal engineer in charge of project production, and is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). His project experience has included the design of churches, commercial buildings, financial buildings, and schools.

 

He spends his spare time coaching his daughters in both basketball and softball.

 


TREY WHITE, PE

Principal Mechanical Engineer

Mr. White obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arkansas and is a registered professional engineer in Arkansas. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

 

Mr. White came to HSA in 2007 with 7 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems for the electric power industry, along with extensive project management experience in the implementation of large-scale projects for customers. For the last six years he has led HSA’s Conway office where he is also the principal in charge of designing mechanical and plumbing systems for a variety of projects and also assists, when needed, on special electrical projects.

 

Mr. White has additional responsibilities with the firm including establishing new sales contacts, as well as serving as one of the firm’s LEED AP. He is proficient in facility energy modeling and applying ASHRAE standards as appropriate within the LEED guidelines.

 

He is a member of the USGBC-Arkansas and the Conway Rotary Club. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching his kids’ sporting endeavors.


NATHAN WILSON, PE

Principal Mechanical Engineer

Mr. Wilson received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arkansas and has over 10 years of experience in mechanical and plumbing design. Prior to becoming an engineer he dedicated 6 years to HVAC contracting. His extensive knowledge in HVAC has provided him with a firm foundation on which he has built upon for the past decade by designing mechanical and plumbing designs across the central United States. 

 

Mr. Wilson is a registered professional engineer in the state of Arkansas. He is primarily responsible for office production and scheduling. The majority of that time has been spent designing educational, financial and religious facilities. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and watching his children in their sporting endeavors.

 

 

 


 

Charles Raef, PE

Principal Electrical Engineer

Mr. Raef has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas and is a registered professional engineer in 8 states including Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. He previously owned and operated an electrical construction company for 17 years. During this time, he specialized in heavy industrial construction. As an electrical contractor, he was responsible for design/build projects to include design, estimating project management, labor management and quality control.

 

In 1990 he made a career change desiring to use his education and experience in the design field rather than the contracting field. This allows Mr. Raef to manage his projects with a practical awareness as well as with engineering skills. He has responsibility for managing the electrical design of all projects. His project experience covers a wide spectrum including schools, churches, and athletic facilities, commercial and financial buildings.

 

Mr. Raef has an extensive knowledge of alternative energy sources such as solar and wind systems and is proficient in executing payback analysis. In addition, he has experience with energy audits and retrofit programs. He is also a member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), and the IAEI (International Association of Electrical Inspectors). In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing and relaxing on the Mulberry River with his wife.


JOHN SYMONDS, PE

Principal Mechanical Engineer

Mr. Symonds received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arkansas. He is a principal engineer responsible for each projects’ mechanical and plumbing design and overall project quality assurance. His thirty-five years of experience in HVAC, piping engineering and construction management has provided him an excellent knowledge of construction techniques necessary for coordination of design team efforts for complex projects.

 

He is currently a registered professional engineer in Arkansas and Oklahoma and is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). His past project experience has included the design of churches, commercial buildings, financial institutions, healthcare facilities, industrial facilities, municipal buildings and schools.

 

In addition, Mr. Symonds is involved in several committees in the community. He is currently a member of the City of Van Buren Planning Commission and Historic Commission, Chairman of the Heritage Methodist Church Facility Planning Committee, Chairman of the Arkansas United Methodist District Building and Locations Committee and a Leadership of Crawford County Ambassador. He is involved in the Drennen Historical House Maintenance Group and the Arkansas United Methodist Committee on Disaster Relief (UMCOR). In his spare time he enjoys fishing, hunting, traveling, watching the Razorbacks play and spending quality time with his grandchildren.
